For years, industrial design students and professionals who have engaged in experimental design have had to reinvent the wheel. We need a collaborative base of knowledge. We all have different strengths, experiences, and knowledge. By sharing what we know, we can make more significant advances in creating sustainable materials than any one person could make alone.
The Designing With Waste GitHub repository allows anyone to upload and share an experimental design project. GitHub allows users to comment on and request changes to recipes. You can even copy a recipe and tweak it. It will be linked to the original recipe but will not change the original recipe (unless you request changes and they’re accepted). A powerful version log allows everyone to see what changes were made when and by whom. So no information is lost and everyone who contributed to improving the recipes gets credit.
Reference a rich set of articles in the Designing With Waste GitHub repository to learn best practices, get advice, and find troubleshooting answers to your Cai Modeling Material questions. Anyone can access the articles for free without creating an account.
Have any Cai Modeling Material tips and tricks you want to share? Want to copy a Cai recipe to experiment with? Have a non-Cai recipe you want to share? Signup for a free GitHub account to start contributing to and collaborating with the Designing With Waste community.
Whether or not you're using GitHub, you can share your experimental design projects using the #CaiBoard, #CaiClay, #CaiModelingMaterials, and #DesigningWithWaste hashtags. See the Community Projects page for more info on the hashtags and to see projects.
